After shopping at a few other stores, we walked the Rue Royale which was just a little bit slumming from Manchester, but we did find a Chanel store (the original), and Dior, and Gucci, and Dolce and Gabbana. Chanel asked where I had found my ugly black shoes, and Gucci wanted Jerry for a photo shoot, but we turned them down.
We continued up to the Champs Elysee and then took the metro back to the apartment. We stopped on the way home for a rest at a cafe on the street, and then stopped at a Charcuterie to buy some pate and a bakery for pastries and bread. What a picnic!
We went out again just to sit at a cafe (seems the thing to do here) later and met some guys from Spain. We thought they were speaking Italian (dumb us) and so we struck up a conversation. They were visiting and going home tomorrow. When both of our bills came, we found out the 2 glasses of wine (dinky ones, no less) were 9 E apiece (about $13.00). Their beers (just glasses) were the same. Jerry said he would go to Spain to get our next glasses of wine, and they agreed.
One thing about the cafes is that you meet people so easily if you are friendly. We happen to be, so we are always talking to people around us. I think that is one of the most fun things about traveling.
We came home and ate our pate, bread, wine, and pastries.Time for bed now, even though you are just getting home from school or work. Big day tomorrow. Rome!!! Bon Nuit!

Based on the wine and pate and desserts, why would any civilized person live anywhere else? |
