Ready to go!

Well we are ready to go.  Tickets bought, clothes bought, travel books read.  Now what?  We are ready to get on the plane and take this adventure.  Hopefully we have planned the important stuff.  Really, people travel without as much planning as we have.  We know that there will be glitches in the plans, but we are flexible ????

We leave the lake this weekend and then a week of Iowa before we take off. We take off on Sept. 5. Get ready, get set, go!!!

Trip to Arles

Our trip to Arles, France is booked.  We will be going there the weekend of the 22-25th of September.  Arles is in the South of France in an area called Provence.  Arles has a very ancient history.  It was a Roman outpost and many of the Roman ruins still can be seen.  It even has a Colosseum that is still working for Bullfights and concerts.  We are going there mostly to see the Roman history and to eat and drink wine.

Our friends from the lake, Jon and Deb Luhrs' daughter lives in Arles.  Andrea works digitalizing music (or something like that) for a French company.  She will be our official "tour guide"  while we are there.  She will take us also to Avignon where the famous Chateau du neuf de Pape (Chateau of the nine popes) is.  They also make fabulous wine in that region so we will go to some tasting cellars.  I can't wait.

Last night our friends Judy and Walter Jones from Mahassat Virginia called. These are the people that we visited on the Rehobeth Beach shore a few years ago.   They might be in Paris for some of the same time we are.  It would be so much fun to meet up with them.  I hope it works out.

More later.

3 weeks and counting

We are 3 weeks from taking off on our trip of a lifetime.  Tickets are booked:  Sept. 5-28.  We will land in Paris and take the bus into the city from the airport.  All the planning and worry and shopping is behind us.  Now all we have to do is cram everything that we can't live without into 3 suitcases and get onto the plane.
     I'm excited!!!!
